Best Foot Forward & Way-UP Employment Services

Daily Bread, Inc. works to ensure that no one in Brevard County faces hunger or homelessness alone. We also seek to assist our hungry and homeless neighbors with becoming self-sufficient. We realize that the path to self-sufficiency is not an easy one and one that starts with steady employment. Many of our neighbors face immeasurable odds and significant barriers to finding employment. From lack of an address to place on a resume or even having a resume at all – to lack of clean clothes to wear to an interview, our clients face many challenges. In addition, some of our clients struggle with accessing job boards and preparing to answer questions in an interview. We want our clients to be able to put their “best foot forward” and overcome these barriers.

Best Foot Forward
Our Best Foot Forward Employment Program includes 1:1 counseling with a career coach and access to a computer to search for jobs. Some of the services our coach provides include:

  • Assistance with resume writing and printing
  • Mock interviews
  • Job search support based on skills and abilities
  • Application follow-up

In addition to these employment search and prep services, eligible clients may also receive a voucher to shop at the Daily Bread Thrift Store so that they may”dress for success.”

Once our clients have landed a job, we help them with budgeting and financial literacy to assist them with establishing a checking and savings account.

Way-UP
At Daily Bread, we don’t offer handouts, we provide a “way-up.” Our Way-UP program allows our un or underemployed neighbors to gain marketable skills and earn a paycheck along the way. We employ our clients in areas such as our dining facility where they are trained in hospitality and culinary arts and our Food Distribution Center where they learn to operate a forklift and manage a warehouse. We also partner with local companies who are seeking temp employees on a project basis. This first step to re-entering the workforce is often a good one to help our clients re-engage in the community and returns a sense of pride and hope that are often lost when one has faced un/underemployment for long periods of time.
