Daily Bread, Inc. is led by a team of dedicated professionals committed to ensuring that no one in Brevard County faces hunger or homelessness alone. Collectively, our team brings more than a century of experience in the fields of non-profit and serving the food-sufficient and homeless to Daily Bread, Inc. Guided by a passionate board of directors, our team works to implement the organization’s strategic plan.

Executive Team

Sylvia Faniel, MMHC and MPA – Director, Mission Delivery
Sylvia joined Daily Bread in June 2018 and is responsible for oversight, quality, effectiveness and strategic growth of Daily Bread’s comprehensive program and services. After relocating to Brevard County in 1987 to escape a challenging life situation, Sylvia went on to earn a Masters Degree in Public Administration from University of Central Florida and a Masters Degree in Mental Health Counseling from Webster University. She has worked as an adoption social worker for over 15 years and served as executive director for a not-for-profit adoption agency for six years where she was responsible for program compliance and case management. Sylvia also has extensive legal experience and worked for 17 years as an executive assistant/paralegal for a private attorney. Having overcome many challenges in her past, Sylvia brings a spirit for providing wrap around services to those who are suffering and is passionate about helping people become set free from whatever binds them so they can fulfill their true calling.  Sylvia and her husband of 19 years are the proud parents of four beautiful children and live in Palm Bay, Florida. A few fun facts about Sylvia – she has been told that her her celebrity doppelgänger is Samantha Bee,  her favorite color is purple, and she loves reggae music.

Diana Mancini, MPA – Director, Facilities & Operations
Born and raised in Connecticut, Diana Mancini currently resides in Vero Beach, FL where she previously worked for the Indian River Habitat for Humanity. Diana became Daily Bread’s Director of Facilities & Operations in April 2018. In this role, Diana is responsible for managing enterprise-wide operations, all four of Daily Bread’s properties, the Thrift Store, human resources, and finance. Led by a passion for helping others, Diana brings with her over 24 years of experience in many facets of non-profit administration. She holds a Masters Degree in Public Administration and a Bachelors in Education. In addition to working in non-profit administration, Diana is also a massage therapy practitioner. Diana’s three favorite things are her dog Gina, spending time with her friends & family, and learning new things.

 

Omar Powell – Manager, Dining & Food Services Program
A native of New York City, Omar Powell moved to the Melbourne area nearly 21 years ago. His career with Daily Bread began in 2010 when he volunteered as a cook in the dining facility. In 2012, after demonstrating his knowledge and passion for culinary arts combined with his desire to make positive change in the community, he was hired as a part-time assistant manager, overseeing volunteers, menu development, and leading training efforts. Powell became the manager of dining and food services in 2015 and is now responsible for leading our dining facility, working in close partnership with food distribution and food rescue, and is an integral part of the leadership team.  Prior to joining Daily Bread, Omar served as a chef at Florida Air Academy and in assisted living facilities. He earned his certification as a chef from the Culinary Institute of America. Omar is a music lover and enjoys watching his favorite football team, the NY Giants as well as spending time with his family.
